Why draws matter
In many top leagues about a quarter of matches end level. That is why the draw is priced as its own outcome.
A team bet in a three-way market loses on a draw. A two-way moneyline, where offered, may refund it instead.

Sequence
Betting a three-way line
Step 01
Read the prices
Three outcomes.
Step 02
Convert to chance
Implied odds.
Step 03
Check the margin
Total over 100%.
Step 04
Judge the draw
League and style.
Step 05
Pick a market
Three-way, DNB or double chance.
A worked example
You bet $10 on the away team at +190. The match is 1-1 after 90 minutes and the away team wins on penalties.
Your bet loses, because the 90-minute result was a draw. A to qualify bet on the same team would have won.
Converting prices to chances
For a positive price, divide 100 by the odds plus 100. At +150 that is 100 ÷ 250, or 40%.
For a negative price, divide the odds by the odds plus 100, using positive numbers. At -150 that is 150 ÷ 250, or 60%.
Add the three chances to see the margin. Lower totals mean better prices for you.
Common mistakes
- Forgetting the draw
- Team bets lose on a draw.
- Counting extra time
- Not included.
- Ignoring margin
- Prices add over 100%.
- Skipping DNB
- It refunds draws.
Leagues and draws
Draw rates differ between leagues and seasons. Defensive leagues tend to have more draws than attacking ones.
Late in a season, a draw may suit both teams. Motivation can change how a match is played.
Check recent league data before betting the draw. A single season can be misleading, so look at several.

- Margin
- The extra over 100%.
Two-way and Asian options
Some US books offer a two-way soccer moneyline that refunds on a draw. It is the same as draw no bet under another name. Some books also offer a three-way line on halves, which works the same way for 45 minutes.
Asian handicap lines remove the draw too. A 0 handicap is draw no bet, while -0.5 means the team must win. A small difference in margin adds up over many bets, so line shopping matters here too.
Compare these options with the three-way price. Removing the draw shortens the price, so you trade payout for cover.
