House rules decide edge cases.

Weight class and style

Heavier divisions finish more fights, since punches carry more power. Lighter divisions go to decision more often.

Two strong wrestlers may control each other and go the distance. A striker against a weak chin points to No.

Three or five rounds

Main events and title fights run five rounds of five minutes. More time means more chances to finish.

Fighters also pace themselves in five-round fights, so the effect is smaller than it looks.

A worked example

You bet $10 on Yes at +120. Two flyweights fight three close rounds and the judges score it a split decision.

Your bet wins and returns $22. A late knockout in round three would have made No the winner.

Finish rates

Look at how often each fighter wins and loses by finish. A fighter who has never been stopped helps the Yes side. Judges score each round 10-9 in most cases, and the totals decide the winner.

A fighter with many knockout wins against a fighter with a poor chin points toward No. Short-notice replacements can be out of shape, which sometimes leads to a late finish.

Recent fights matter more than old ones, since fighters age and change styles.

Common mistakes

Ignoring division
Power differs.
Forgetting draws
Usually Yes.
Missing DQ rules
Usually No.
Skipping late changes
Bets may void.

Price movement

Distance prices can move a lot during fight week. Weight cuts and late news shift money. A fighter who often wins close decisions may push fights to the cards.

If a fighter misses weight badly, some bettors expect a weaker performance and a finish.

Compare prices across books before you bet, since margins on props are often high.

Total rounds markets let you bet on how long the fight lasts, such as over or under 2.5 rounds.

A goes the distance Yes is close to over 2.5 rounds in a three-round fight, but not the same.
