Sprints

The Saturday sprint is about half the Grand Prix distance and pays half points.

Sprints are separate betting markets. A sprint bet does not cover the Sunday race.

A full Grand Prix usually runs between 40 and 45 minutes, about 100 to 120 km, while the sprint is roughly half the distance.

Crashes

Riders crash more often than in car racing. A crash ends most bets on that rider.

Head to head bets usually need both riders to start, and the one who finishes ahead or goes further wins.

Riders are limited in how many engines they can use each season, so a mechanical failure late in the year can carry grid penalties.

A worked example

You bet $10 on a rider to finish on the podium at +200. He finishes third.

Your bet wins and returns $30, made of $20 profit and your $10 stake.

Tire choice is key, since riders pick soft, medium or hard compounds for front and rear, and the wrong choice fades badly late in a race.

Championship betting

The title is decided over the whole season, with points from sprints and races.

An injury can wreck a title bid, so prices move on crash news.

Prices are often best early in the year.

Common mistakes

Mixing sprint and race bets
They settle apart.
Ignoring weather
Rain changes results.
Overlooking grid spots
Passing is hard at some tracks.
Forgetting crash risk
Favorites crash too.

Factories and teams

Factory teams get the newest parts first, while satellite teams may run older bikes.

A strong satellite rider can still win races.

Rule changes between seasons can shift the order.

Live MotoGP

Prices move fast after the start, crashes and tire problems.

Late race tire wear often changes the order.

Set your stake before the race. The Moto2 and Moto3 classes race on the same weekends, and their results are useful for spotting young riders before they move up.
