Round robin bets: every parlay combination from your picks

A round robin turns a set of picks into every smaller parlay you choose, such as all two-team parlays from three teams. You can win some money even if one pick loses, but you pay for every parlay.

In short

Key takeaways

  • The cost of a round robin is the stake times the number of parlays.
  • One loss kills only the parlays that include that pick.
  • Round robins lower the swing of a big parlay but do not lower the margin.
  • The more picks and sizes you add, the faster the cost rises.

Three picks by 2s

  1. 1

    Picks: A, B, C

    Each at −110

  2. 2

    Parlay 1: A + B

    Pays about 2.64 to 1

  3. 3

    Parlay 2: A + C

    Pays about 2.64 to 1

  4. 4

    Parlay 3: B + C

    Pays about 2.64 to 1

If two of three picks win, one parlay wins. If all three win, all three parlays win.

Why bettors use them

A three-team parlay pays more, but one loss ends it. A round robin by 2s gives up some of the top payout for a smaller loss when one pick misses.

It is a way to spread risk across combinations, not a way to beat the margin.

Sequence

Placing a round robin

  1. Step 01

    Pick three or more selections

Each must be allowed in a parlay.

  2. Step 02

    Choose sizes

    By 2s, 3s or more.

  3. Step 03

    Set the stake per parlay

    Not for the whole ticket.

  4. Step 04

    Check the total

    Stake times number of parlays.

  5. Step 05

    Confirm

Each parlay is graded on its own.

Larger round robins

Five picks can be played by 2s, 3s and 4s together, creating 25 parlays. At $5 each, that is $125 of action.

Big round robins can look cheap per parlay but add up quickly. Check the total stake before you place it.

Pushes and voids

If a pick pushes, most books drop it from each parlay it is in. A three-team parlay becomes a two-team parlay at a lower price.

House rules decide, so read them before you bet a large round robin.

Round robin terms

Know before you sit

By 2s
All two-team parlays from your picks.
Total stake
Per-parlay stake times number of parlays.
Push
A tied pick removed from each parlay.
Leg
One pick inside a parlay.

Round robin vs single bets

Three $10 single bets at −110 cost $30. If two of three win, you profit about $8. A round robin by 2s with the same picks loses about $4 in that case.

The round robin wins more only when all picks win. Single bets are steadier and carry a lower margin overall.

Picking round robin sizes

By 2s is the most forgiving size: one loss still leaves winners. By 3s or larger pays more per winning parlay but needs more picks to land.

Many bettors keep round robins to three or four picks so the total stake stays clear.

Common mistakes

Reading the stake as the total
The stake on a round robin is usually per parlay. Ten parlays at $10 cost $100.
Adding every size
By 2s, 3s and 4s together can triple the cost of a ticket.
Thinking it beats the margin
Each parlay still carries the full book margin.
Using too many picks
Each extra pick multiplies the number of parlays and the cost.

After the 90 seconds

Questions before and after you play

A 90-second guide cannot cover every table moment. Tap a group, then a question — answers are short paragraphs, not one-liners.

01Basics

What is a round robin bet?

A set of parlays made from your picks. Three picks by 2s creates three two-team parlays.

How much does a round robin cost?

The stake per parlay times the number of parlays. Six parlays at $5 cost $30. The slip shows the total before you confirm.

Can a round robin win if a pick loses?

Yes. Parlays without the losing pick can still win. Three picks by 2s still returns one winning parlay when one pick loses.

02Math

Are round robins better than parlays?

They swing less, but each parlay has the same margin. They are not a better deal on average.

How many parlays does 5 picks make?

By 2s: 10. By 3s: 10. By 4s: 5. All three together: 25. Each costs one stake, so 25 parlays at $4 is $100.

What if all my picks win?

Every parlay wins, and the total return is often less than a single big parlay of all picks would pay.

03Rules

What happens if a game is postponed?

Most books void that pick and regrade each affected parlay with fewer legs. Rules on timing differ by book.

Can I mix sports?

Usually yes. Most books allow picks from different sports in one round robin. Linked picks from one game are often blocked.

Are round robins offered at casino counters?

Many retail sportsbooks take them at the window. Ask for the ticket type and confirm the total stake.
