Before the session

Arrive 30 minutes early to buy packs and find a seat. Many halls sell packs only until the first game starts.

Regulars often have favorite seats. If a seat has a bag or dauber on it, it is taken. Ask before sitting down.

Bring cash, though many halls also take cards. Some sell daubers; others expect you to bring your own.

During play

Keep talking to a minimum while numbers are called. A missed number can cost another player a win, and that causes tension fast.

If you win, call bingo loudly before the next ball is drawn. Most halls do not pay a claim made after the next number is called.

If someone else calls bingo, stop daubing and wait while staff check the card. If it is good, the game ends.

    Sign if needed.

Winning and tipping

If two or more players bingo on the same ball, most halls split the prize evenly.

Tipping callers and floor staff is common in many halls, especially after a big win. A few dollars is normal.

Prizes of $2,000 or more (the 2026 level) need an IRS tax form, so bring a photo ID. Staff will explain what to sign.

A first session example

You arrive at 6:20 for a 7:00 session and buy a $15 base pack plus two $2 specials. A regular tells you the seat you picked is saved, so you move one table over.

In game 6 you need one number for a straight line. The caller says B-7, and you shout bingo right away and hold up your card.

The floor worker reads your numbers back to the caller, and the claim is good. Another player also called bingo on B-7, so the $100 prize is split, and you get $50. You tip the floor worker $3 as you leave.

Common mistakes

Talking during calls
Others miss numbers.
Calling late
Claims may close.
Taking a saved seat
Ask first.
Skipping ID
Big wins need it.

Electronic units and kids

Electronic units mark your cards for you, but you still need to call bingo out loud in most halls. Some halls only let you claim from the unit.

Most halls are for adults only during regular sessions. Some run family or charity sessions with different rules, so ask before bringing children.
